A MULTIFAITH SERVICE OF PEACE
On October 27th1986, Pope John Paul II and religious leaders from across the world gathered in Assisi to fast and pray for peace. The Spirit of Assisi expresses the commitment of believers of different faiths to come together in prayer, mutual respect, and dialogue. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Assisi Gathering.
On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. John’s is hosting a Multifaith Service of Peace at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. We are inviting all the other faith communities of the area to come together with us in a spirit of prayer, and mutual respect to collectively pray for peace for our troubled world. All are welcome to attend. A reception will follow.

LEGION OF MARY
Tuesday, October 27th marks the second anniversary of the establishment of our Legion of Mary praesidium here at St. Edward’s Parish. Since Auxiliary members are such an important support to our praesidium we would like to invite all auxiliary members to join us in celebrating this milestone in the parish hall after morning Mass on Tuesday, October 27th. Tea & Coffee will be served as well as sandwiches, tea biscuits, muffins, etc. Hoping to see many of you there.

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
During the month of November, the Book of Remembrance will be on display on the altar. The Book contains the names of deceased parishioners and deceased family members of parishioners submitted in the past, as well as those who have passed since November 2025. If you wish to have the name of a deceased member of your family added to the Book, you may do so by sending the names to the Parish Office by email or by placing them in the collection box. Please do not add names to the Book. Thank you.

Lead Volunteer for SNOW CLEARING
The parish is in need of a volunteer “lead hand” for snow clearing at St. Edward’s Parish Church/Hall complex. The lead hand must make sure the main door, wheelchair ramp (only one ramp), office entrance and emergency exits are shoveled and salted. This does not have to be done all the one time, depending on when the snowfall occurs, and volunteers are available to help when snowfall is heavy. It is necessary to be at the Church early especially on Sunday morning to check the status of the steps, ramp and exits to see if salting is required. This person will also be responsible for checking salt inventory.

PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN, YOUTH & VULNERABLE ADULTS
It is important to ensure that our volunteers, who are critical to the success of our Parishes, are also participants in our safeguarding efforts. Below is a link to a course that has been developed for Ecclesiastical Insurance, and similar to the previous course, offers a short presentation followed by a series of questions. This can be done at the individual's convenience.

ST. EDWARD’S PARISH FALL FAIR 2026
Our parish fair is set for Sunday, November 15th at the Parish Hall.
Volunteers are needed
1) to help with the Fair setting up, helping with tables and tickets, clean up after the Fair 2) to help sell the " Grand in Your Hand "Tickets
3) to donate baked goods, craft items, knitted goods, bottles for the Bottle Table,
4) to donate items for the spin wheel
5) to donated small prizes for the children's events.
Please consider supporting the Fair and Parish in this event. After Mass, sign-up sheets and tickets to sell will be available.

St. Edward’s Parish Youth Group
All youth ages 13–20 are invited to come to our next youth group gatherings.
We will meet in St. Edward’s Parish Hall at 12 noon (following Sunday Mass) on: Sunday, November 29th, and Sunday December 27th (more dates to follow in the new year). Lunch will be provided and, for now, we’ll plan to watch a video and have a conversation about the Catholic faith. These gatherings are also open to those who do not attend St. Edward’s Parish, so feel free to bring a friend.
Registration is not required; however, it would be appreciated if you could let Fr. Fleming know you are coming so we can prepare adequately for food.
