ALL DAY ADORATION

December 10th, St. Edward's Parish will have all-day adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.  The adoration will begin following the 10am Mass and continue until 8:00pm.  During this time the church will remain open for visitation and prayer.

To ensure that there is always someone with the Blessed Sacrament we need three people to sign up for each hour.  The sign up sheet is located at the back of the church.  With the Advent Season soon approaching, it would be a wonderful opportunity to spend some quiet time in prayer and reflection.

You may contact Cathy White (709-691-4920) if you have any questions

OCIA and Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens

I am pleased to share that this year we have six people seeking to be received into the Catholic Church through our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults, formerly known as RCIA) program at St. Edward’s Parish. Four are preparing for adult baptism and two more for reception into full communion with the Church from other denominations. We plan for these rites to take place at the Easter Vigil. In addition, two others have joined the OCIA group who were baptized in the Catholic Church as infants but received no further instruction. They are preparing for Confirmation and Eucharist as adults.

On Sunday December 14th, we will have the joy of beginning the Mass with the brief “Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens” for those preparing for adult baptism. Please join me in welcoming the members of our OCIA program to our parish community and keep them, and the program leaders, in your prayers.

A Nativity Narrative & Hymns of Reflection

The Choir and the Catechetical Program invite you to join us for a Nativity Play presented by the young people in the program, and hymns and music presented by the Choir on Sunday evening, December 14th at 6:30pm. This is a contemplative evening, as we prepare for the birth of our Saviour.

Hymns may be dedicated for a donation (which will support the Parish), and the name of the person(s) will be read aloud. The list of selected hymns will be available in the coming week. The public are welcome.

There is no admission charge, but a free will offering for the Food Bank will be gratefully accepted at the door.

Reconciliation Services, December 16th and 17th

St. Kevin’s Parish will hold a Reconciliation service on Tuesday, December 16th.  The evening will begin with Mass at 7pm followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions from 7:30–8:30pm.   Fr. Kolonel and Fr. Fleming will be available for Confessions.

St. Edward’s Parish will hold a Reconciliation Service on Wednesday, December 17th. This will also begin with Mass at 7pm followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions from 7:30–8:30pm.  Fr. Fleming, Fr. Kolonel, and, hopefully, one other priest will be available for Confessions.

SUNDAY MISSALS -  2025 – 2026

Sunday Missals are now available at the church entrance for $7.00 each.

 PRE-AUTHORIZED GIVING (PAG)

Many parishes in the Archdiocese of St.  John’s have established a Pre-authorized Giving Plan to assist parishioners in making their regular parish offerings (this does not include special collections).  When you participate in PAG your offering will be withdrawn from your bank account twice per month, on the 15th & 30th (if a weekend, on the next business day).  PAG has the advantage that your offering is received automatically, which can simplify your giving and ensure that support of your parish continues when you are away. It also helps to ensure a regular and dependable flow of contributions to the parish.

If you are interested in signing up for PAG to St. Edward’s Parish, please complete the form available at the entrance of the church, place it in a sealed envelope along with a void cheque, and drop it in the collection or bring it to the Parish Office. Your personal information will be kept confidential and secure. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer at the Parish Office.
